His sunset tall tale spinning to Lake ties right into his activities and friendship with Tom Mix and the burgeoning exploitation of western mythology in the movies. The Dodge years are, well, kinda dodgy too. But the mettle of these men, who they were and what their world was about no matter whose side you’re on, all comes to a head in Tombstone. No one had to make that stuff up, though they’ve been trying to “spin” it ever since.
