Ken Films and Universal 8/castle were my favorites. very informative article. I sold most of the films but held on to a few like Star Wars/Empire and the 3d versions of Creature/Outer space. The projector was all I really had of him. For the next 25 years, I worked my way up thru projectors and cameras (standard 8 to super 8 to 16 mm). The smell of the film, the projector bulb; the hum of the motor; the sound of the flickering film at film's end. It gave memories I'd never trade. (Btw, I've wondered for decades where the "Ken" in Ken films came from. Hart, Tom Mix, and Ken Maynard; though their biggest sellers were the Laurel & Hardy comedies. Near the end of their operation, they made a deal with Gene Autry to release complete sound prints of his features.<br />jeffm12012https://www.blogger.com/profile/17430827566250598471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1409887812566625284.post-4930079334315820952013-07-16T14:51:00.274-05:002013-07-16T14:51:00.274-05:00I didn't get to enjoy the Super 8 experience -...I didn't get to enjoy the Super 8 experience -my family was lucky to afford a set of rabbit ears -but I was well aware of it, wistfully looking at those ads in comic books and monster magazines.
