Things aren't moving along quite as quickly as they'd hoped, but the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight.

Oh, goodness, hieroglyphics! What fun! How's it coming along? Hope you are making good progress with that and the French brush up. I took 4 years of French in high school, but it's really true that if you don't use it you lose it in practicing languages. Oddly enough, I've had quite a lot of Spanish too, and I find myself thinking in a mixture of both languages when I try to dodderingly put a sentence together. LOL Now that is a PICKLE! LOL

Happy New Year, Keith! Lord, how I miss it! JES, I think all we can do is make a resolution to TRY to do better in these things. That way, we know we did make the effort and sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't. But at least we tried. I think learning Latin would be great. When my sisters were in high school, Latin was required. Not that way by the time I made it to high school. Hope you have a wonderful 2021!Cheryl Piersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18116526340220274282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1409887812566625284.post-37249657622561968022021-01-01T22:10:23.145-06:002021-01-01T22:10:23.145-06:00I'm in the no resolution group also, but I'...I'm in the no resolution group also, but I've usually chosen a word for the year, or it choses me.The one for this year hasn't shown up yet, but I've got a couple of days to really listen and see what shows up.

I know you'll get that attic done. For me, I'll continue my 'duolingo' Spanish and maybe add Latin. We'll see. I did have to read Common Sense and some other things like that MANY years ago for one of my history classes. I don't remember much of it because I was too young. I need to re-read it all with a new perspective--AGE.

That's a great idea about the Spanish translation, too. You have a lot of innovative ideas--I like that better than making a "resolution" that might or might not fall by the wayside.

XO
Cheryl Piersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18116526340220274282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1409887812566625284.post-67604635818995167972021-01-01T19:30:52.924-06:002021-01-01T19:30:52.924-06:00Cheryl,

I tried choosing a focus word for the New Year one time, and that didn't work either.

However, we have a storage trailer that we pay a lot fee to park it on the outskirts of town. It serves as a combination attic/garage/shed for my hubs and me, my daughter and her family, and my mom. Our collective goal this year is to go through the trailer and purge, purge, purge.

When I say 'trailer', I mean it is a wrecked semi-truck sized refrigerator trailer. Big fella.

I do have a reading goal, though. Last year, I participated on the fringes (I'm not a group-joiner) of a group whose reading focus was to read all of Shakespeare's works in 2020. I accomplished that. (side note: there's a reason we're not as familiar with many of his plays - some are pretty tough to wade through). For 2021, I've decided to revisit many 'classics', Greek Mythology, and the writings of our Founding Fathers (Common Sense, Federalist Papers, etc.), and who knows what else I'll read.

For something new... I'm going to choose a book I know well and read a Spanish translation hand-in-hand with it.

Good luck with tackling your attic. *hugs*

haha

Kaye Spencerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13530735658588595790noreply@blogger.com
