Western Fictioneers Publishing Update

Western Fictioneers is a professional organization for authors who work in the genre of the traditional western. WF's goal is to promote the kinds of stories we love to write (and read); the western is the Great American Story, our unique history and mythology, and it remains as relevant as it ever was.

To meet this goal, we started our own publishing program beginning with The Traditional West, a collection of 24 rip-roaring western stories by a mixture of the old and new pros of western fiction that is the largest all-original western anthology ever published.  This was so much fun, that we decided to do more.

April 29th will be the publication date for our newest endeavor, West of the Big River, a series of novels in Time Life Old West style.  Each book will be a stand alone novel based on people and places in western history.  They will be written by a mixture of veteran western authors and up-and-coming stars of the genre just like The Traditional West was.  The first novel, The Lawman, is by NY Times bestselling author James Reasoner.  The Lawman is a tale based on William M. "Bill" Tilghman, who had one of the most illustrious careers of any Old West lawman.  The Lawman will be available in trade paperback and for the Kindle and Nook.

There will be a missing child poster in each novel.  This seemed an easy way to get the word out about missing children.  Featured in The Lawman will be Timmothy Pitzen.  Timmy is an 8 year old boy who has been missing for 2 years.  Updates are added to his Facebook page Help Find Timothy Pitzen.

West of the Big River novels will be published each month with tales by Robert J. Randisi, Michael Newton, Jackson Lowry, Frank Roderus, Bill Crider, Matthew P. Mayo, James J. Griffin, and many others.

  4. What an amazing list of books and the newest sounds like something I would love to read, having spent time working in corrections. The posters of lost chidren is a great way to keep these victims in the public consciousness. Doris

  5. The idea of West of the Big River and adding the missing child poster came from Kit Prate. Timmy is actually part of her extended family, I'm sad to say. It has to be heart breaking for the family.

  6. Forgot it was my turn to blog, but what Livia has done is far more important than anything I could have posted today. Well done, Livia.
