There is always something to be thankful for by Kaye Spencer #westernfictioneers #prairierosepubs #thankful #westernromance

Events
throughout 2020 have pushed our stamina and challenged us all in so many ways - in our friendships, with our families, medically, politically, intellectually, emotionally, physically...

The list goes on.

When I lose sight of the good in life, I bring out this reminder.

I want to say how thankful I am to be able to write stories, to be published, and to be a part of the Western Fictioneers community of authors and readers.

I'm also thankful for my publishers at Prairie Rose Publications, Cheryl Pierson and Livia Washburn. Being included in Prairie Rose Publications' recently released boxed set of western romance novels - Gambling on a Cowboy - has been the emotional and psychological boost I needed.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who observes this holiday on the 26th whether it be in person or socially distant this year.

My family's plans are uncertain at this point. If, and that is a large IF, we gather, we will be a group of 10 or 12 gathered outdoors as safely distant as is reasonable.

Until next time,
Kaye Spencer

  1. Kaye, I hear you! We are still debating in our family about if we will have a very small get-together with only our adult kids and our daughter-in-law. If it become an "either/or" situation, I'd rather just wait until Christmas.

We have so much to be thankful for, don't we? Just in everyday living. So many things we take for granted. I try to remember to be grateful for even the very smallest things we have that generations before us didn't enjoy--the conveniences and luxuries that they would never have dreamed of.

Livia and I are so glad to have you with us at PRP! This GAMBLING ON A COWBOY collection has been so much fun to put together and of course we are thrilled to see it "out there"--and at such a great price, too!

    1. Cheryl,

I take entirely too many things in my life for granted, and I'm working on being more appreciative and thankful.

  2. Kaye,

    (Glad to see you here!)

Well...so far the sun has always risen. But then, it's the earth that we have to worry about more. Then again, I read someday all the Helium will be burned up and ALL the suns of the universe will die. I find that comforting to know there will eventually be a complete end to things.

But, for the moment, those of us that are retired, have incomes, houses, THINGS, can relax and wait for the virus to go away. Others are NOT so lucky and we give what we can. Don't we?

When you talk about WESTERN FICTIONEERS and PUBLISHING the two names that always come up are Livia Washburn/Reasoner, and Cheryl Pierson. And it is not just Prairie Rose Publications they rule over.

Ahhh, the struggle to sell books. If only we had the SEO person or some guru with magical fingers that could place every Western Fictioneers book in front of everyone else’s.

But we write, we get published, we try, and we leave a LEGACY long after we are gone.

AND...so far, the sun keeps rising!

(My comments in the time of the virus---for whatever they are worth!)

    1. Charlie,

Yes, so far, the sun keeps rising. I am fortunate. I am retired. I have a secure income. I have a house and food. My immediate family members are healthy and employed. While these can seem like small thing, they are the important things, just as you said. Yes, we do try, and we hope to leave a legacy after we're gone.

Thanks so much for commenting, Charlie. I truly appreciate your thoughts.

Yes, we can find things to be thankful for if we just step back and reassess when things look bleak and hopeless. Thanks for stopping in!

  5. Kaye,
Yes, we do have much to be thankful for. I'm thrilled that your book is part of the box set. I'm glad your family is even looking at getting together.

I think I may be the odd one out. This time has been a blessing for me and I've thrived. (Maybe because I am so comfortable with my own company. LOL) As I said to a person the other day, "I'm a girl who see a glass with stuff in it."

Wishing you and the other authors the best on the box set. Also to you and your family, a safe, blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving. Doris

    1. Thank you, Doris. You are so kind and thoughtful. I'm also a person who gets along fine with isolation and alone time, so my regular way of living hasn't been noticeably impacted with the staying at home recommendations.

      Happy Thanksgiving, to you.

  6. I thank God for my blessings every night...and sometimes even during the day when something happens to make me turn my face to the sky. Like you, I'm retired, and loving it in many ways. I'm so glad to be out of the work force. I'm so happy for you that you have a book out in an anthology, which are such fun to be a part of with other wonderful storytellers. Blessings in writing and life.
